Oreo Delight Macarons are delicate French-style macarons with a cocoa-infused shell and a creamy, crunchy Oreo cream cheese filling. Perfectly crisp on the outside and chewy inside, these elegant treats combine almond flour, cocoa, and crushed Oreo cookies for an irresistible dessert.

Ingredients

Macaron Shells

  • 100 g almond flour
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp black cocoa powder
  • 3 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 30 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Filling

  • 150 g cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 50 g powdered sugar
  • 4 Oreo cookies, crushed

Instructions

  1. Prep the Baking Sheets: Begin by preheating your oven to 150°C (300°F). While the oven warms, line two baking sheets with parchment paper using a template to ensure even macaron circles.
  2. Sift Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, sift together almond flour, powdered sugar, and black cocoa powder to remove lumps and ensure smooth shells.
  3. Whip the Egg Whites: In a clean, dry bowl, whisk room temperature egg whites with a pinch of salt starting at low speed. Gradually add granulated sugar as whites froth, then increase speed and whip until stiff, glossy peaks form.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the sifted dry ingredients into the whipped egg whites with a rubber spatula, folding carefully until the batter flows like lava without deflating.
  5. Pipe the Macarons: Transfer batter to a piping bag with a round tip and pipe 3 cm diameter circles onto prepared baking sheets. Tap sheets gently to remove air bubbles.
  6. Rest the Macarons: Let piped macarons rest at room temperature for 45 minutes until tops are dry to the touch to form the shiny shell.
  7. Bake the Macarons: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until they rise slightly and develop a shiny surface. Cool completely on baking sheets.
  8. Prepare the Filling: Mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and crushed Oreos in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  9. Assemble the Macarons: Pair cooled shells by size. Pipe filling onto one shell and sandwich with the other, flat side down.
  10. Chill for Flavors: Refrigerate assembled macarons for at least 24 hours to meld flavors and improve texture before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure egg whites are at room temperature to achieve optimal volume when whipped.
  • Sifting dry ingredients is critical to a smooth shell and helps avoid lumps.
  • Resting macarons before baking forms a skin that prevents cracking and creates the signature smooth surface.
  • You can substitute black cocoa powder with regular cocoa powder, although color and intensity may differ slightly.
  • Refrigerate macarons in an airtight container to maintain freshness and texture.
