This Crispy Cheesy Chicken Alfredo Calzones recipe combines tender shredded chicken and rich Alfredo sauce with a blend of mozzarella, ricotta, and Parmesan cheeses inside a golden, crispy pizza dough. Perfect for an easy dinner or snack, these calzones are baked to perfection and served with extra Alfredo sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 1 pound shredded cooked chicken breast
  • 1/2 cup Alfredo sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Dough and Finishing

  • 2 store-bought pizza dough rounds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, for brushing
  • Extra Alfredo sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, combine shredded cooked chicken breast with Alfredo sauce. Add shredded mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until evenly distributed.
  2. Assemble the calzones: Lay two store-bought pizza dough rounds on a lightly floured surface. Gently stretch or roll each dough round into an 8-10 inch circle. Divide the filling equally between the two dough rounds, spooning it onto one half of each, leaving a 1-inch border.
  3. Fold and seal: Fold the unfilled half of each dough round over the filling to create a semi-circle. Gently press down on the edges to seal. Crimp the edges with the tines of a fork for a secure seal and decorative touch.
  4. Bake to golden perfection: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and carefully transfer the assembled calzones. Brush the tops of the calzones with olive oil.
  5. Baking and serving: Bake for 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and puffed up. Let the calzones rest for a few minutes before serving hot with extra Alfredo sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked chicken breast, shredded, to save time and ensure tender chicken filling.
  • If you prefer a spicier filling, add crushed red pepper flakes to the cheese mixture.
  • Make sure to seal the edges well to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
  • Brush the calzones with olive oil to achieve a crispy and golden crust.
  • Serve immediately after resting to enjoy the cheese melted inside.
