Blue Christmas Truffles are a festive and elegant treat featuring creamy white chocolate infused with a hint of blue curacao. Coated in sparkling sanding sugar, these bite-sized delights are perfect for holiday celebrations and gift-giving.

Ingredients

Truffle Mixture

  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons blue curacao

Coating

  • 1/2 cup sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate and Cream: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 2 cups of white chocolate chips with 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. Heat the mixture in the microwave at 30-second intervals on medium power, stirring well after each interval until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Add Blue Curacao: Stir 2 tablespoons of blue curacao into the melted chocolate mixture until fully incorporated, creating a uniform blue tint and flavor.
  3. Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for about 2 hours to firm it up for rolling into truffles.
  4. Prep for Rolling: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour 1/2 cup of sanding sugar into a shallow bowl for coating the truffles.
  5. Form the Truffles: Using a spoon or small scoop, take heaping teaspoons of the chilled chocolate mixture, roll them into smooth balls with your hands, then coat each ball evenly with sanding sugar.
  6. Set the Truffles: Place the sugar-coated truffles on the prepared parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 1 hour to allow them to set completely.
  7. Store and Serve: Keep the Blue Christmas Truffles refrigerated until ready to serve. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Use good quality white chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
  • If blue curacao is unavailable, substitute with blueberry syrup or a mild blue liqueur.
  • Handle the truffle mixture quickly once chilled as it may soften with body heat.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the blue curacao and add a splash of blueberry or vanilla extract.
  • To shape uniform truffles, use a small cookie scoop or melon baller.
  • Sanding sugar adds a festive sparkle; granulated sugar can be used but will have a different texture.
  • Keep truffles refrigerated as they contain dairy and will soften at room temperature.
